Some Rambling About the Author

As you've probably noticed, I'm a curious person - and I like to talk about the weird facts and stories I've found in my wanderings, physical and digital.

I'm not going to share too many personal details, but I'm from (and have kin all over) the British Isles.  I have a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Evolution and Behavior from Stirling University in Scotland - as a result, you'll find that I tend to put sources in my posts if possible!

As well as being interested in science (especially biology and psychology) I developed a bit of a fascination with folklore - something I blame on the leafy English countryside followed by the hills of Scotland.  I'm particularly curious about the intersection of science and folklore - such as why some places feel haunted or what could have inspired creatures of legend.

I've had the chance to travel quite a bit.  I've been all over the British Isles (from Loch Ness to the tombs of Ireland, the hills of Wales to England's Dinosaur Coast) to Greece, Italy (Pompeii and Herculaneum are well worth seeing)  Austria, Germany, France, Puerto Rico and have even stood on a volcano in Hawai'i.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I've encountered weird and wonderful creatures and folklore, have read about a whole lot more and hope that people might find something interesting or useful from my collected ramblings!
