Privacy and Cookies

Google Blogger

This site is hosted on Google's Blogger platform and uses Google services like AdSense - that means Google collects some data and uses it to serve adverts.  You can find their privacy policy here, how they use information here and you can contact them here.

You should have seen a message about cookies the first time you visited this site - here's a bit more on that...
  • This site uses Google AdSense, which may display personalized advertising.
  • Google (and other Google-approved third parties) can use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this or other websites. Cookies are little files downloaded on to your computer - they can let websites "remember" what you looked for, your settings, general location and so on.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it (and its partners) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. For example, previously searching for information about food may produce adverts about local restaurants.
  • Most browsers let you delete cookies at any time by visiting their history page.
  • Click here if you want to know more about how Google collects and processes data.
  • Google allows you to opt out of personalized advertising using Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ uses of cookies to advertise at www.aboutads.info.
So what does this all mean?  In essence, Google is trying to make any adverts fit your interests.  Google also provides this site with the countries people are viewing from, how people are viewing and what articles are being viewed - something that might help inform the content of further articles or how they are laid out.

Really Weird Real World

This site is intended to be a repository of interesting information - it's not intended to collect your personal data, and I'd strongly discourage you from sending personal information to the site (or any website, for that matter.)

Google does provide some limited information to those running a Blogger site, such as the referring country and domain (i.e. where you clicked to reach the site.)  This information will not be disseminated by the owners of this website.

Feel free to use the contact form on the main page if you need to get in touch - any information you put on there will be deleted once your question or suggestion is dealt with.

Third Party Links

You'll notice that the posts on this site tend to have links to external sources in them.  These links are provided so that you can read further on a topic or to back up a point (I'm only human) but will obviously take you off the site.  It's up to you (and at your own risk) if you click them and how you interact with them - they'll have their own policies on privacy and cookies.
